Seating and temporary passwords

For a supervised sitting in a computer lab, give each student a seat. Students can then only start the paper on their own computer. Open Seating from the schedule.

The schedule must be linked to a lab room. If it says No lab room is linked to this schedule, edit the schedule and choose a lab. See Lab Rooms.

Giving out seats

  • Auto-Assign fills the seats for you. It tries to give each student the seat they used last time in this lab.
  • Or click a student, then a green seat. You can also drag a student onto a seat.
  • Clear All removes every assignment.

The counts show Lab seats, Students assigned and anyone Without a seat. If seats are short, Surepass tells you how many are free.

Seats used by another schedule at the same time show as Locked. Students who also have another paper at the same time are listed so you can sort it out.

Seat colours

Available, Assigned, Logged In, In Progress, Submitted, Not Yet Here, Locked, Maintenance (a faulty monitor, mouse or keyboard) and Disabled.

During the sitting

Hover over a seat to see who is there. If the wrong student is on a seat, use Kick to sign them out. To move a student, use Reassign Student and give a reason, such as a computer fault.

Exporting the seating plan

Export gives:

  • With Credentials: name, username, seat and computer code, for the invigilator;
  • Device ID Only: seat and computer code, for desk cards.

Temporary passwords

For extra security, give each seated student a one-time password for this sitting.

  1. Click Temp Passwords, then Generate.
  2. Print the list, or print Dockets to hand to each student.

Temporary passwords start working 20 minutes before the start. Revoke All cancels them.
