Working at school and online together

If your school uses both a school server and the Academium online portal, your staff can work at school and away from it. The two stay up to date with each other.

How it works

  • Your school server is the main home for your records. At school, everyone works through it, with or without the internet.
  • The Academium portal is the second home. Staff away from school work through it on the Individual Edition.
  • The server and the portal sync: work done at school appears online, and work done online appears at school.

Turning it on

  1. Open the server's control panel and go to the Portal tab.
  2. Turn on Sync through the portal.

The tab then shows when the server last synced, and how many changes are waiting to go up. If changes are waiting, the server sends them the next time it can reach the internet.

What staff need to do

Nothing special. Staff on the Individual Edition connected to the school server automatically use the portal when they are away from school, and the school server when they are back. See Working offline and syncing.

Good to know

  • If the school's internet is down, the school keeps working on the server. The changes go online once the connection returns.
  • Families' parent portal access depends on your plan including online access.
