Classes and sections
Classes are the years your students move through, such as JSS 1 or Primary 3. Sections are the arms within a class, such as A, B and C. Open Academics → Classes.
Putting classes in order
Each class has a position. Promotion uses this order to know which class comes next, so Primary 6 should come straight before JSS 1.
When you give a class a position that is already taken, the classes after it move down one place.
Sections
Choose the sections each class has. You can change them later. A section's size is simply the number of students enrolled in it.
Class teachers
Assign a class teacher to each class and section. To change the teacher, assign someone else and the old assignment is replaced. To remove one, Academium asks you to confirm.
Class teachers appear on the attendance panel on the dashboard, next to their class.
Skills (junior) assessment
For younger classes assessed on skills instead of marks, turn on Assessed on skills. Every active skills category is then allocated to the class. This option only appears when your school uses junior assessment. See Setting up junior assessment.
Archiving a class
Archive a class you no longer run. Its marks, enrolments and timetables are all kept, but it is no longer offered when you admit or enrol students. You can bring it back at any time.
Deleting a class
Academium warns you how many students are enrolled before you delete a class. Archive it instead if it has any history you want to keep.
Common issues
Promotion sends students to the wrong class. Check the class positions. Promotion follows them.
A class is missing from the admission form. It may be archived. Bring it back from the archived list.
With Academium Surepass
