Subjects

Subjects are what your classes are taught and examined in. Open Academics → Subjects.

Adding subjects quickly

Academium can fill in a standard Nigerian subject list for you:

  1. Choose to fill in the standard list.
  2. Look through the preview.
  3. Confirm.

Subjects you already have are skipped, and names are tidied up so that, for example, Maths and Mathematics do not end up as two subjects. Nothing is deleted. This works without an internet connection.

You can also add subjects one at a time.

Subject types

Each subject is Mandatory, Optional, Theory or Practical.

Assigning subjects to classes

Assign each subject to the classes and sections that take it. This matters because:

  • the timetable builder only offers subjects assigned to the class;
  • the exam schedule is built from the subjects assigned to each class.

Starting a new session

Instead of assigning everything again each year, copy last session's assignments. Academium shows you a preview first. It will not copy into a session that already has assignments.

Archiving

Archive a subject you no longer teach. Its marks and history are kept.

Common issues

A subject is missing from the timetable or exam schedule. It has not been assigned to that class and section. Assign it here.

"Copy last session" is refused. The current session already has subject assignments, so Academium will not overwrite them.

With Academium Surepass

Academium Surepass uses these subjects for its question bank, tests and exams, and keeps them in step by itself. See Subjects in Surepass.
