PINs and switching accounts

Several people can use Surepass on the same family computer. A PIN lets each person switch back to their own account quickly, and keeps others out.

Switching between accounts

Click your name at the top of the window and choose Switch Account.

  • Choose an account and enter its PIN.
  • Click Add Account to sign in with another account on this computer, or Add a school account for a school student.
  • Log out all accounts signs everyone out of this computer.

If an account has work that has not been saved online yet, Surepass warns you and offers Switch to account & sync first.

Parents and teachers: your Master PIN

Parents and independent teachers set a Master PIN (4 digits). It lets you switch into any of your children's or students' accounts, and locks your own account.

Set it up from the button at the top of the window (Setup Desktop PIN or Setup Master PIN), or from Preferences. It is the same PIN everywhere you use Surepass.

Children and students: how they get in

For each child or student, choose a Login method:

Method Switching into their account needs
Pinless No PIN. Good for young children on a family computer.
Master PIN Your Master PIN
Child PIN / Student PIN Their own 4-digit PIN. Your Master PIN also works.

Change it from My Children (parents) or My Students (teachers).

Switching into a child's or student's account

  1. Click Switch To Child (parents) or choose a student (teachers).
  2. Choose the account and enter the PIN if asked.

To come back, choose Exit to Parent Portal, or Switch back to your account. You may be asked for your Master PIN once.

The lock screen

When locked, Surepass asks for your PIN. Forgot your PIN? lets you confirm your account password and choose a new PIN.

Common problems

My child keeps forgetting their PIN. Change their login method to Pinless if only your family uses the computer, or set a new Child PIN.

I do not want a PIN at all. Leave your Master PIN unset and set each child to Pinless. Anyone who can open the computer can then switch accounts, so only do this on a family computer.
