How Surepass runs at your school

Surepass comes as three applications that work together. Which ones you use depends on who you are and where you use Surepass.

At school or at a centre: Server and Client

Tests and exams run inside your school or centre, on your own network. You do not need the internet while students are sitting a paper.

  • One computer is the school server. It runs the Server Edition of Surepass. It keeps your school's questions, students, tests and results.
  • Every other computer in the school, such as the computers in your lab and the staff office, runs the Client Edition. Client Edition finds the school server on the network by itself and opens Surepass from it.

Staff and students sign in on any Client computer. Everything they do is saved on the school server.

The server needs the internet now and then: to download the question bank, to check your school's account, and to receive updates. Exams themselves only need your school network.

At home: the Individual Edition

The Individual Edition is for practising on your own computer. It is used by:

  • students practising on their own;
  • school or centre students practising from home with the login code their school or centre gave them;
  • parents who set practice for their children;
  • independent teachers who teach their own students.

The Individual Edition keeps a copy of your work on your computer, so it keeps working when the internet is poor. It saves your progress to your online account whenever it can.
