Sharing a computer with colleagues
On the Client Edition, several members of staff can stay signed in on the same computer. Each person switches to their own account with their PIN, without typing a password every time.
Adding your account to a shared computer
- On the account screen (Who is using this device?), choose Add another account.
- Sign in once, with either:
- your username and password, or
- a login code your school gave you. Codes work once; after that, this computer remembers you and your PIN is all you need.
Your account now appears in the list on this computer.
Switching to your account
- On the account screen, choose your name.
- Enter your PIN.
If you have forgotten your PIN, choose Forgotten your PIN? Use your password and switch with your password instead.
Stepping away
Always lock the screen or switch accounts when you leave a shared computer, so the next person cannot use your account. See Signing in, your PIN and the lock screen.
Good to know
- Each account keeps its own preferences, notes and sidebar arrangement.
- An administrator can see which computers you use, and sign you out of one, from Devices & Access.
Common issues
"Login codes need the Academium app." You are in a web browser, not the Client Edition. Use your username and password, or open the Client Edition.
"This session cannot identify the computer." Close the Client Edition and open it again to use a login code. In the meantime, your username and password work.
"That password is not correct." Check your password, or ask your administrator to reset it from your staff profile.
