On a lab computer, Surepass opens on the sign-in page.

## Signing in and out

Each person signs in with their own username and password, and signs out from the menu under their name (**Logout**) when they finish. See [Signing in](https://helpcenter.academium.com.ng/academium-surepass/article/sp-signing-in.md).

## The computer code

Each lab computer has a **computer code**, such as `PC-012`, shown on the sign-in page. Staff use it to tell computers apart and to place them on seats in a lab room. See [Devices](https://helpcenter.academium.com.ng/academium-surepass/article/sp-devices.md).

## When a seat is reserved

During an exam, some computers are kept for particular students. If you sign in at someone else's seat, Surepass says **Seat Already Assigned**, shows who the seat is for, and asks you to go to your own seat. If it is a mistake, use **Request Temporary Access**. See [Signing in for a test in the lab](https://helpcenter.academium.com.ng/academium-surepass/article/sp-signing-in-for-a-test-in-the-lab.md).

If a seat becomes reserved while you are using it, Surepass warns **Computer reserved - please move** and signs you out after a countdown.

## Common problems

**"Your server seems to be offline".** The school server is not responding. Check it is switched on and that this computer is on the school network, then click **Retry**.

**The computer was moved to another room.** Ask your School Owner to update its seat in the lab layout.
