# Exams

**Exams** are formal sittings: mid-term, end-of-term or mock exams. They are usually sat in a supervised computer lab, with seating.

Open **Exams** in the menu. Click **Create Exam** to start.

## How exams differ from tests

Exams are built, scheduled and watched exactly like tests. Follow the guides under [Tests](https://helpcenter.academium.com.ng/academium-surepass/article/sp-creating-a-test.md), with these differences:

- Each exam gets an **exam code**, such as `EXAM-2026-AB12CD`.
- On the **Details** step, the **Assessment Type** links the exam to the student result report, for example "Exam".
- With **Auto** marks, each question keeps the marks set when it was added. With **Manual**, you set marks for all questions or for each class.
- The calculator is a scientific calculator that students can move around the screen.
- Students see their results only when the school releases them.
