**Assessment types** are your mark distribution: for example 1st CA (20), 2nd CA (20) and Exam (60). Every test and exam is given one, and the Class Result and report cards add them up. Open **School Settings → Assessment Types**.

## Adding an assessment type

| Field | Notes |
| --- | --- |
| **Assessment Name** | Such as 1st CA |
| **Code** | Such as CA1. Suggested from the name. |
| **Max Score** | The highest mark, such as 20 |
| **Pass Score** | The minimum to pass (optional) |
| **Display Order** | Its place in reports |
| **Weight (%)** | Its share of the total grade. Surepass shows how much of the 100% is already used. |
| **Lock To** | Where it can be chosen: **Tests only**, **Exams only**, **Tests & Exams**, or **Unrestricted** |

**Auto-generate** creates a set for you: pick the naming style your school uses, then edit any of them.
