The leave pages let staff apply for time off, and let the people responsible approve it. They are under **Human Resource → Leave**, and need a plan that includes human resources.

## Setting up leave categories

*For school admins.* Open **Leave → Category** and add the kinds of leave your school gives, such as *Annual*, *Sick* or *Maternity*. For each **role**, set how many **days a year** each category allows. Staff can only apply for the categories set up for their role.

## Applying for leave

*For every member of staff.* Open **Leave → My Application**:

1. Choose the **type** of leave.
2. Choose the **from** and **to** dates.
3. Give a **reason**, and attach a supporting document if you have one, such as a doctor's note.
4. Submit.

You can **withdraw** an application while it is still pending.

Leave days are counted from the first day to the last day **inclusive, including weekends**.

## Approving leave

*For staff who manage leave.* Open **Leave → Manage Application**. Filter by role, then **approve** or **reject** each pending application.

An administrator can also record leave directly for someone. It is saved as approved.

## Leave report

**Reports → Human Resource → Leave Reports** shows leave by date range and role, with counts of applications, approved, pending and rejected. A paperclip marks applications with a document attached.

## Common issues

**My application is refused.** Either you do not have enough days left in that category this year, or the dates overlap with leave you already have.

**The leave type I need is not offered.** It has not been set up for your role. Ask your school admin.
