# Setting up a school on the Individual Edition

Use the Individual Edition to create a school that runs **online, through the Academium portal**, with no school server. Read [Before you set up your school](https://helpcenter.academium.com.ng/academium-sms/article/sms-before-you-set-up.md) first.

> **Warning:** If your school will have a **school server**, do not register here. Set the school up on the server, then sign in on the Individual Edition with the same Academium Account.

## Start

1. Install and open the Individual Edition.
2. On **Welcome to Academium SMS**, choose **Set Up a New School**.

## Step 1: Your account

Enter **your name**, **email**, a **password** (at least 8 characters) and **confirm** it. This creates your school's Academium Account, the school owner's account.

## Step 2: Verify your email

Enter the **six-digit code** sent to your email address. Did not get one? Choose **Resend code** when the countdown ends, and check your spam folder.

## Step 3: About the school

Enter the **school name**, **mobile number**, **city**, **state** and **address**, and add your **logo** if you have it. The full address is required.

If the logo cannot be saved, the setup carries on without it; you can add it later from the app.

## Step 4: Your classes

Choose your school's structure and remove any classes you do not run. The choices are the same as on the server. See the class table in [Setting up a school on a Windows server](https://helpcenter.academium.com.ng/academium-sms/article/sms-setting-up-on-a-windows-server.md).

Click any class to remove it; removed classes turn grey and struck through, and a second click brings them back. You can add or rename classes later under Academics.

## Step 5: How you assess each term

Choose your pattern, such as **Two C.A.s and an Exam**. These become the mark columns on your report cards, and you can change them later under Examinations.

## Setting up your school

Academium shows **Setting up your school…** and some tips while it works. You can leave it running. It then opens Academium SMS, signed in as the school owner.

## Common issues

**"Please fill in all fields." / "Please enter a valid email address."** Every field on the account step is required.

**"Passwords do not match."** Type the same password in both boxes.

**"Select at least one class."** You removed every class. Bring back at least one.

**I closed the app half-way through.** Open it again. Academium resumes at the step you reached, with your answers kept.

**I want to start again.** Choose **Start over**. This removes the account and the school, so you can register again from the beginning.
