# Personal preferences

**Preferences** let each member of staff make Academium comfortable to work in. They are yours alone, and do not need any special permission. Open them from your profile menu.

## Appearance

- **Theme:** light or dark.
- **Dark mode at night:** switch to dark automatically in the evening (by default from 7pm to 7am). Changing the theme yourself turns this off.

## Notifications

- **Tone** and **volume** for new notifications, with a button to play each tone.
- **Where pop-ups appear:** top right, top centre, bottom right or bottom centre.
- **Preview:** turn notification pop-ups on or off, and choose how long they stay (3 to 30 seconds).
- **Lock screen notifications:** show unread notifications on your lock screen.

## Tables and lists

- **Rows per page:** 10, 25, 50 or 100.
- **Apply filters automatically** as you change them, instead of pressing a button.
- **Highlight selected rows.**

## Security and the lock screen

- **Lock after:** lock Academium after 2, 5, 10, 15 or 30 minutes without use.
- **Confirm before locking.**
- **Peek at PIN digits** while you type them.
- **Wallpaper:** the default picture, a photo, or a slideshow of up to five images. Text on the lock screen adjusts to stay readable. A wallpaper needs a PIN.

## Payments

If you take payments, choose whether to see a **transaction preview** before saving a payment, and whether to **print the receipt** straight after.

## Guidance

Turn **guided tours** on or off.

## Catch Up

Set **quiet hours**, when non-urgent Catch Up items wait, and the stock level you count as **running low**.
