# Importing attendance

If registers were kept on paper or in a spreadsheet, you can import them instead of typing them in. Importing needs a paid plan.

## Importing

1. Open **Attendance → Import**.
2. Choose whether you are importing **student**, **staff** or **exam** attendance.
3. Download the template. It comes **already filled in with the names** for the class, staff or exam you chose.
4. Fill in each person's mark: **P**, **A**, **L** or **HD**.
5. Upload the file.

## What happens to mistakes

Academium saves every valid mark, and lists any problems **by name**, for example an unknown student or a mark that is not P, A, L or HD. Fix those rows and import them again.

## Common issues

**Some marks were not saved.** Check the list of problems Academium showed. The usual causes are a typing mistake in a mark, or a student who is not in that class.

**Import is not available.** Importing attendance needs a paid plan.
