# Fine Setup

If your school charges fines for late payment, set them up here.

## Before you start

Turn on **Enable Fee Fine** in [School settings](https://helpcenter.academium.com.ng/academium-sms/article/sms-school-settings.md). **Fine Setup** only appears in the menu when fines are turned on.

## Setting up a fine

Open **Student Accounting → Fine Setup**. A fine can be:

- a **fixed amount** or a **percentage** of the fee;
- charged **once**, or **repeated** daily, weekly, monthly or yearly while the fee is unpaid.

## Reports

The **fine report** under **Reports → Student Accounting** lists fines charged. See [Fee reports](https://helpcenter.academium.com.ng/academium-sms/article/sms-fee-reports.md).
