# Fees Type

A **fee type** is one thing you charge for, such as *Tuition*, *Development Levy*, *Uniform* or *Textbooks*. Open **Student Accounting → Fees Type** and add each one.

Fee types are the building blocks of your [fee templates](https://helpcenter.academium.com.ng/academium-sms/article/sms-fee-templates.md), so add them first.

## Archiving

Archive fee types you no longer use. Past charges and payments are kept.
