A fee template is the list of fees, with amounts, that a class pays in a term. Open **Student Accounting → Fees Templates** and choose **Add Fee Template**.

1. Choose the **class**.
2. Give the template a **name**, or leave it blank to use the class name.
3. Choose the **target students**:
   - **Everyone in the class**: charged to every student in the class.
   - **New students**: for a student's first term at the school, such as admission fees, uniform and textbooks.
   - **Returning students**: everyone who was already enrolled last term.
4. Tick the **fee types** in the template and give each one an **amount**.
5. Save.

A class can have several templates, for example one for new students and one for returning students.

### Starting a new session

Choose **Copy from** last session to copy all of last session's templates. Templates already in the new session are not changed.

### Changing a template

Amounts that students have **already paid against are locked**, so receipts and balances stay correct.

### Retiring a template

**Retire** a template you no longer use. It is not offered for new allocations, but existing allocations and payment history are untouched. You can restore it later.

## Before you start

Add your fee types first. See [Fees Type](https://helpcenter.academium.com.ng/academium-sms/article/sms-fee-types.md).

## Next step

Allocate the templates to students for the term. See [Fees Allocation](https://helpcenter.academium.com.ng/academium-sms/article/sms-allocating-fees.md).
