# Comment templates

**Comment templates** are ready-made report card comments, matched to a student's performance. With them, a whole class's comments can be filled in with one click. Open **Exam Center → Comment Templates**.

## Setting up comment templates

Each template has:

- a **percentage band**, such as 70 to 100;
- the **comment**, such as *An excellent result. Keep it up.*;
- **who it is for**.

There are two kinds of comment:

- **Teacher comments** apply to every class.
- **Principal or head teacher comments** are allocated to particular classes, so primary and secondary can have different comments.

Bands of the same kind cannot overlap or run backwards. Academium tells you if they do.

## How comments are chosen

When comments are filled in automatically, Academium uses each student's **cumulative average** where there is one, and their **percentage** for the term otherwise. A band that matches exactly is used. If none matches exactly, the nearest band is used.
