# Appraisals and awards

**Human Resource → Appraisal** records **awards** given to staff and students, so recognition is kept with the people who earned it.

## Recording an award

1. Choose the **role** of the person receiving it. For a student, also choose their **class**.
2. Choose the **recipient**. Staff are listed with their staff ID; students are those enrolled in the class this session.
3. Enter the **award name**, the **gift item**, an optional **cash prize**, the **date given** and the **reason**.
4. Save.

The gift item, date and reason are required.

## The awards list

Shows each recipient (with their class or staff code), role, gift, amount, reason and date.

## Good to know

- Awards cannot be given to parents.
- A cash prize is recorded here only. It is not added to payroll; pay it separately.
- This page records awards. It does not run performance appraisal reviews.
