# Keeping your account secure

Your security settings are under **Profile → Security**. The tabs you see depend on your role.

## Your PIN

Your four-digit PIN unlocks Academium without your full password. To change it, enter your current PIN or your password, then choose a new PIN.

## Security questions

Three questions and answers that let you reset your PIN, and for most staff your password, if you forget them. Academium asks for your password before you change them.

Pick answers that will not change over time. If nobody can answer them and you have forgotten your PIN, the only way back into your computer is your full password.

## Two-factor and backup codes

Set up an authenticator app on your phone and keep a set of backup codes somewhere safe. Turning this off, or replacing your backup codes, asks for your password, so only you can make those decisions.

## Lock screen wallpaper

Choose what your lock screen shows: the default picture, one of your own photos, or a slideshow of up to five images. A lock screen wallpaper needs a PIN to be set.

## Trusted devices

A list of the computers registered to your account. Choose **Remove device** next to any you no longer use, or do not recognise.

## Password and username

Change your password or your username. Passwords for school owners must be stronger than for other staff.

## Good habits

- Lock Academium whenever you leave your desk.
- Never share your password, PIN or sign-in code, even with colleagues.
- Remove computers you no longer use from **Trusted devices**.
- Tell your school administrator straight away if a computer with Academium on it is lost or stolen. They can lock or wipe it from **Devices & Access**.
